The 4C's Framework
The methodology behind everything I teach is the same: Consciousness, Curiosity, Compassion and Connection. It's a way of thinking about what's keeping a couple stuck, what's underneath the dynamic, and how to create space for something to shift in the room.

The Inner Circle
Clinical Training Community
You don't have to figure out couples work alone. The Inner Circle is where therapists come to grow through it together.
A guided professional curriculum for therapists doing relational and attachment-focused couples work. Two live calls a month. Quarterly themes. Real cases. Real community.
How it works
Two live calls with me every month, organized around the quarterly curriculum.
Everything is recorded. The community means you're never waiting until next month to get support.
Training call
Deepens that quarter's theme. Clinical teaching, frameworks, case examples, and the kind of nuance that takes time to sit with.
Case consultation call
Bring the issues for couples that are keeping you up at night. We apply that quarter's theme directly to your real cases.
The quarterly curriculum
The year is built around four themes so the learning builds on itself. New members can join at the start of any quarter.
Q1
Attachment Foundations and De-escalation
The patterns driving the cycle, and how to create safety in session without avoiding the truth.
Q2
Anger, Shame, and Secondary Emotions
The emotions underneath the emotions. Helping partners access what's actually going on when anger or withdrawal takes over.
Q3
Repair, Accountability, and Boundaries
What real repair looks like. Holding space for accountability without shaming. Boundaries that protect instead of isolate.
Q4
Therapist Identity, Leadership, and Practice Growth
How your own patterns show up in session. Building a sustainable couples practice. Stepping into leadership in this field.
What changes for you
Knowing where to go in a session when things get intense or you feel stuck

Why therapists learn this from Shane
I've been doing this podcast for nine years, and honestly, one of the things I'm most grateful for is the access it's created. I've had real conversations with Sue Johnson, Dan Siegel, Lori Gottlieb, Harville Hendrix, Stan Tatkin, Harriet Lerner, people whose work has genuinely shaped how I think about this. And I'm still in the room with couples every week, still doing my own work.
What I bring into the Inner Circle comes from all of that, not just the reading or the interviews, but what I'm actually sitting with right now in my practice.

Questions therapists ask
What kind of training do couples therapists need beyond licensure?
Most therapists I talk to say they didn't get enough specific training in couples work during school. Licensure gives you the foundation, but couples work has its own dynamics like what's happening in the room, how to hold two people at once, and how to get underneath the surface when things get stuck. That's what the Inner Circle focuses on.
How much time does this take each month?
Two live calls per month that are about 60 minutes each. Everything is recorded. Most members spend a few hours a month between the calls, the recordings, and the community. It's designed to fit into a working clinician's schedule.
What if I'm new to couples work?
The quarterly curriculum gives you a structured path. You don't need to have it all figured out to start. In fact, I think the therapists who get the most out of this are the ones who are honest about where they're growing. If you're further along and ready to specialize in intensives, the CIT Certification is the deeper track for that.
Is the Inner Circle the same as couples therapy certification?
No. The Inner Circle is an ongoing training community with monthly calls, case consultation, and a clinical curriculum you build on year after year. The CIT Certification is a separate, more intensive track for therapists who want to specialize in the intensive model specifically. It includes a four-day in-person residency and 6 months of support after. Many therapists do both. The Inner Circle is a natural home for CIT graduates who want to keep developing after certification.
Can I get CEU credit?
The Inner Circle is not a CEU-approved program. It's ongoing clinical training, not a formal certification course. If CEUs or formal certification are what you're looking for, the CIT Certification is the right track for that.
How do I know if CIT is right for me?
If you're already working with couples and want to build a practice around the intensive model, CIT is the next step. The 30-minute call is just a conversation about where you are and whether the timing makes sense.
Why annual only?
I've found that the therapists who get the most out of this are the ones who commit to the full cycle. The quarterly curriculum builds on itself, and that only works when you're in it long enough for the learning to compound.
What if the Inner Circle isn't for me?
You have 14 days. Join, attend a live call, explore the archive. If it doesn't feel right, email me and I'll refund you. No questions, no awkwardness.
